In 1937 the Toyota Motor Company was founded (TMC). It was a spin off, of the Toyota Automatic Loom Works. This automobile company was founded by Sakichi Toyoda, he was known as Japan's " King Inventor". They have come a long way in those 70 years, leading the way in both technology and reliabilty.
Considered the bench mark in quality, Toyota are constantly updating and redesigning there engines. Toyota developed the first four wheel drives back in the1960's. But diesel 4x4's far more recently in the U.K. The first 4x4 diesel engines would of been found in the Landcruiser back in the early 1980's. Since then Toyota have continued to develope there engines, and now the D4D units are considered to be one of the best across the world. The 2.0D4D can be found in the Rav 4, launched in 1998, developing 114bhp. The larger 3.0D4D power train can be found in the larger Landcruiser, this boasts a hefty 161bhp and considered by many as being the ultimate all rounder, with build quality and reliability second to none.
Toyota's are ideal for towing, rugged off roading and are a pleasure to drive on the open highway.
