Mitsubishi Motors automotive tradition goes back to 1917 when the first Mitsubishi Model A was introduced, but it was in 1970 that the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation was formed.
Mitsubishi have had an unsurpassed record of success in endurance motorsports since the 1970’s with the Dakar Rally and the World Rally Championships, in fact, by the end of the decade Mitsubishi vehicles were picking up honours both at home and abroad. South Africa’s “Car Of The Year” in 1977 with the Galant and the USA’s “Pick-up Of The Year” in 1979 with the L200, but this was just the beginning.
In 1982 the Shogun was launched and proved it self to be quite different to anything that had been seen before. After a host of awards it soon became a Global best seller and was put on the honours list along with Mitsubishi’s Galants, Colts, Lancers and L200s.
Mitsubishi always excel themselves in their technological advances and like to keep one step ahead of other leading manufacturers. In 1990 MMC (Mitsubishi Motors Corporation) introduced the world’s first Traction Control System followed by Super Select 4WD and Multi-mode ABS in 1991, by 1996 we were being introduced to the development of the GDI engine.
Mitsubishi Motors continue to go from strength to strength in all areas of their motor vehicles. From basic family cars and MPVs to high powered, well equipped 4x4s and performance engines.
